| Situated near the head of one
of the world’s finest harbours, the seacoast town of
Shelburne, Nova Scotia has had a lengthy and prestigious association
with yachting and the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club was established in
1903
Today,
the club proudly occupies new facilities at the edge of the Historic
Waterfront District, as part of the Muir-Cox
Shipyard Museum Complex. The SHYC shares space in
the former large vessel building of Harley S. Cox
and Sons with the Osprey Arts Centre
and Theatre, Shelburne Harbour Marina Association and Shelburne Sailing School
Association.
Summer
is a grand time in Shelburne, as it is a first-call port for many
cruisers traveling from the Eastern U.S. and from other Canadian ports.
Several weekly boat races,
regattas, club barbeques, the "Parade of Lights" and other
activities are highlights of the season. The food is good, and casual licensed dining
on the veranda deck is a treat.
You'll
find links to the left for our services
and fees, a brief history
of the club and information about our many activities, including a calendar of events, plus
information about how to find us
and about contacting us.

you are sailing, motoring or driving the highways, we hope you will
stop in for a visit or stay.
On
a more recent note, we will once again be hosting the Nova Scotia
Schooner Association visit in 2008. The fleet will gather at Shelburne
over the weekend of Saturday, August 2nd. Racing starts Monday, August
4th, and continues throughout the week with the final race on Saturday,
